It's not very often you actually wear out a pair of shoes these days. Most of my shoes either get relegated to the back of the cupboard or put in a charity bag, but my trusty pair of plain white leather trainers has achieved bin-ready status.
Moving onto a little more trim. Brogue style. I'm kind of on the fence about these ones. I like the mix of styles but they don't look overly comfortable with the thin leather at the heel.

The next one is not only the most expensive option, it is also the option my mum would lol at and would hold in similar low esteem as the distressed jeans she so loves to call "pulled out of the trash" type of clothing. Oh how she would mock. I admit these do have an air of emperor's clothes about them but I have heard they are very comfortable and hey, at least you wouldn't have to worry about them getting mucky.
Golden Goose Deluxe Brand - Super Star distressed suede-paneled leather sneakers £265
And now for the ones which seem to have it all. Simple, a tiny little bit of detail to add some interest and remove them from the sportswear category, with a reasonable price tag. I think these might be the ones for me. Unless I go for the Stan Smiths. Decisions, decisions...

Which ones would you go for? Or have you tried any of the above? Let me know in the comments!
They were an inexpensive pair from Mango that started of quite uncomfortable. Then, after breaking them in - as well as almost breaking my feet - on a long walk, they became my go-to pair of non-work shoes. I have worn them almost every day for over a year and they have been absolutely great. They are completely plain, a matt white leather which has softened nicely over time, which means they have been so easy to just throw on with any outfit.
Unfortunately they have been worn to death now. The top leather is still looking ok, but the sole has worn through on one side. So unless I want to experience another wet sock moment, it's time for a new pair.
Here's my current shortlist. The criteria are: white, leather, flat, laces, trainer.
First things first. And immediately breaking my own rules.
I checked if Mango had a similar pair to mine. I thought these were actually the same pair, but alas, they are not leather. Close but no cigar.
Next up is the obvious one. The original Stan Smith.
This ticks all the boxes. But is it too much like actually wearing your gym shoes out?
Now for a bit of texture. This is classed as white, although it might actually be a little more cream coloured if the pictures are correct.
